Carlton Apartments
Quiet location with all the benefits of downtown living located only two blocks from Campus. We offer extremely large furnished or unfurnished units that occupy up to three residents. We hope you have a lot of belongings, because this property has some of the best closet space you will find in town! Furnishings may vary by unit.

|Recommended: YesNot bad — The property has some issues cracks in ceiling, lose outlets , but overall it is a nice space. For having three people live here, there is a good amount of space for everyone. Being close to frat row, there is a good amount of noise from outside, but it is not too bad.
response from property -Ava,
Thank you for your review! If you have any maintenance issues you can report them in your resident portal and request them to be fixed. We cannot fix what we do not know is broken. Have a great day!
|Recommended: YesHidden gem — We have really enjoyed living at The Carlton so far. Living downtown at Penn State is always a risk, but this apartment did not feel that way.
Apart from some scratches in the sofas predictable for leather, and they stay looking nice anyways and some minor carpeting issues, the apartment is very updated and CLEAN.
The location is also quiet, but not too quiet. There is an even mix, perfect for those who like to go out but also have somewhere to study throughout the day.
One issue I will say is that when locked out of the apartment even if all tenants still have your keys safe inside elsewhere , there will still be a lock change fee, even if the locks are not changed. I think this could be fixed pretty simply by having someone on site for this purpose, instead of having a locksmith drive out when the lock doesn't need to be changed.
Jordyn,
Thank you for your review. We cannot be onsite at every property we manage (which is 30+) during after office hours when a resident locks themselves out of their apartment. The lockout fee is not a lock change fee. It is a lockout fee that pays for the lockout that a resident gets themselves in which it costs time and manpower when it is after hours, sorry you found yourself in that situation.
|Recommended: YesA nice place to spend my last year of college — These are nice apartment that are not too expensive at a good location. Sometimes the frats nearby are a little loud, but I like this place.

|Recommended: YesCozy options for 1 bedroom apartments — This apartment offers various perks for students looking for a 1 bedroom apartment. While the rent for just this one bedroom unit can be compared to 2 bedroom apartments at other places, it still offers a cheaper option year-round than staying on campus.
Dylan, Thank you for your review!

Thank you for taking the time to review The Carlton.
|Recommended: YesGood apartment — Living next to frat houses I don't hear them at all I like the layout, I think these are one of the bigger apartments and for the price it is nice. Closet space is awesome. It is very close to campus and downtown but quiet. There is no visitor parking. And some neighbors aren't clean as there are beer cans in halls stairs and bushes which isn't about the property more about the people living here. Maintenance is good and comes quickly. I think its wonderful for the price and closeness to everything.
Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear that you enjoy living with The Apartment Store.
|Recommended: YesGreat Price and Location — Probably the most affordable place in State College that is close to campus. Nestled between frat houses, but it is clean, does not have a smell, and is close to downtown and the hub.
Jennifer,

Thank you for your review!!
|Recommended: YesMuch nicer than other places downtown. That being said... — Overall, this is one of the nicer places to live downtown for the price. That being said, the frat houses nearby and the neighbors on my floor could be quite loud at times, and the lack of a dishwasher is tough with three people sharing a one bedroom apartment. If you max out on your number of room mates you will get the most for your money, but then you have the trade offs of multiple people sharing a bedroom. Parking is expensive. Overall, I'd recommend a friend to stay here.
Thank you for writing a review and giving us your feedback!
